EAST MONTGOMERY COUNTY - While following up on a tip about a stolen 4-wheeler on Thursday, members of the Pct. 4 Constable's Office solved multiple other crimes. Around noon, Lt. Seals, Deputy Bourdeaux and other Pct. 4 officers went to a tan-color mobile home on Third St. near Johnson Rd. in New Caney, where the tipster said they would find the stolen ATV.

Once on location, the officers found 25-year-old Robert Ellis Hinton, II on a stolen green Honda 4-wheeler. They also discovered a small trailer filled with stolen tools and other items. Continued investigation revealed Hinton allegedly burglarized four homes, during an all day crime spree that began with a Chevy pickup stolen from the Porter area. At some point during the morning, the pickup became stuck and investigators say Hinton then stole an 18-wheeler and drove it around the New Caney area until the trailer fell off. Then, they say the 18-wheeler tractor became stuck, like the pickup.

But officers allege Hinton was not deterred from his crime spree and went on to break into four homes on the same large property on Lodge Road, which is when they say he took the ATV and a small trailer so he would have a way to haul his booty.

With assistance from Detective Swilling of the Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force, all of the vehicles were returned to their owners. The miscellaneous stolen items from the four homes were also returned.

Hinton, who lives at 23360 Stoneshire Drive in New Caney, was charged with burglary of a habitation (4 counts) and theft of property (2 counts).
