GALVESTON - Members of the Galveston Municipal Police Association pitched in recently to help the Salvation Army man Christmas Kettles in front of local businesses, ringing the bell for donations.
GMPA President Jimmy De Los Santos said members decided to lend a helping hand after learning the Salvation Army was short of staffers and volunteers to man all the locations throughout the city.
The aftermath of Hurricane Ike and the poor economy has taken a tole on everyone, including the Salvation Army, a spokesman said.
