THE WOODLANDS - An assault suspect from The Woodlands died in the early hours of Saturday after leading officers on a high-speed chase that ended when he crashed his motorcycle.
The dead man is Timothy Jason Jones, 24, of 3326 Willie Way.
Just after 2 a.m. the Montgomery Sheriff's Office dispatched deputies to a Whataburger restaurant on Sawdust Rd. to investigate a possible assault.
According to MCSO Lt. Dan Norris, after the deputy was on-scene, one of the victims identified a passing motorcyclist as one of the attackers. The deputy chased the 2004 Honda 600 motorcycle, driven by Jones, with lights and sirens but Jones failed to stop.
He looked back at the deputy and sped away turning on Grogan's Mill Rd., Norris said, reaching speeds in excess of 120 mph.
Shortly after the bike turned west on S. Millbend Dr., Jones lost control and crashed, ending the pursuit just east of Acorn Oak St.
Deputies notified Montgomery County EMS. MCSO Sgt. Brice Herring arrived shortly after the crash, and performed CPR until medics arrived. Jones was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the crash and the MCSO will continue any investigation required regarding the original assault.
