On Sunday - November 15, 2009, Officers of the Galveston Vice & Narcotics Division executed 2 search warrants, 1 in Texas City and 1 in Galveston. Narcotics Officers Robert Owens and Rene Vela conducted this Multi-City investigation which lead to the application for a search warrant at 4117 Ave S in Galveston and 219 - Westward in Texas City TX. Officers Owens and Vela applied for these warrants which were approved and signed by the Honorable Wayne Mallia of the 405th District Court of Galveston County.
This large Operation consisted of 2 Tactical Teams made up of Officers of the Galveston County Sheriff Department Task Force, Texas City PD, Agents of the FBI and DEA, Galveston Narcotics and Patrol Divisions. Officer Owens headed the execution of the search warrant in Galveston at 4117 Ave S, along with a 9 man team and Officer Vela headed the execution of the search warrant at 219 - Westward in Texas City, along with 15 man team.
Both search warrants were executed simultaneously at approximately 11 am. Officers entered both locations and detained all persons in and on the premises. Officers located numerous subjects in possession of Gambling Paraphernalia and evidence inside both locations of illegal Gambling.
This investigation resulted in the seizure of $ 32,600.00 in cash and 38 arrests.
