TEXAS CITY, TX - A man stopping at a Texas City apartment complex to give his friend a ride early Thursday morning was shot at and his car stolen as he waited in the parking lot.
Texas City Police Sgt. Joe Stanton said the victim, who police are not identifying, was sitting in his car in the parking lot of the Oaks Apartments on Lowry Expressway, when a black man came up to his car and told him to hand over 'everything he had'. The man was not displaying any kind of weapon so the victim jumped out of his car and confronted the man.
At that, the perpetrator took off running with the victim in pursuit. As the chase was on, the chasee turned and fired to shots from a pistol at the chasor who then abandoned the chase and ran for cover.
When he felt he was safe from the gunman, the victim walked back to where he had left his car and it was gone, stolen.
Sgt. Stanton said a bulletin has been issued for the gunman and the victim's car. The gunman is a black man, 20-25 years old, 130-150 lbs, with a well groomed afro hair style, wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants.
The stolen car is a tan, 1998 Toyota Camry, license plate number PDX-177.
